Rated R and For Your Entertainment album reviews

hey everyone!! so I know I promised a review of the new Rihanna album a little while back, and I am sorry I am just now getting down to it! but I've found some good ass music latley! so I just thought I would make a bigger blog entry!! Today I wanna talk about the much anticipated 'Rated R' by Rihanna, and 'For Your Entertainment' By Adam Lambert.

lets get things started with Rihanna !!!

first of all can we please talk about that hot ass album cover? it clearly paints the picture of what this album is all about, its a dark, moody album, that has a message to tell people, Rihanna dont give a fuck what you think of her, her music, or what happened to her, shes here to tell her story, and say screw you to anyone who stands in her way.

the songs hit hard...her new single is even titled 'Hard' and I guarantee that didnt happen by just chance. Her album opens with a dark, haunted intro joint titled 'Mad House' ...essentially welcoming us to the mad house that now is Rihanna's mind.

She's a woman scorned and we all should realize this new Rihanna is most likely here to stay, and can I please just say , I hope she is? this new Rihanna is hot as hell, shes ghetto fabulous, shes got killer hooks, songs that you wanna give someone a lap dance to, songs you can belt out (which has never really been her style), hell even songs that make you wanna carry around a gold plated gun 'G4L' which stands for Gangsta For Lyfe, is a sexy, bumpin joint and is my new theme song.

Rihanna has always been knowing for her smooth island feel vocals...and on songs like 'Te Amo' , 'Stupid in Love' , 'Photographs' and 'Fire Bomb' all feature that same style of vocals.

songs like ' The Wait is Ova ' , 'Hard', and 'Rockstar' all feature sharp, punctuated vocals mixed in with smooth flowing hooks.

I could probably spend a whole entry focusing on just the lyrics of this album....which are some of the most chilling I have heard in a long time. Even though Rihanna doesn't typically write her own material, you just feel it. You feel her hurt, pain, anguish, longing to be understood, her desire to move on, and the difficulties that come with what happened to her.

Standout tracks to me are ' The Wait is Ova' 'Hard' 'Rockstar' 'Fire Bomb' and 'Cold Case Love' which is possibly my favorite track...tied with 'Fire Bomb'

Rihanna's album "Rated R" was released today and is now on sale for digital download at Amazon.com for 3.99$ ! ! I suggest purchasing it, its a complete step in the right direction for Rihanna in my eyes.

By now i am sure you've all seen the outrageous cover for Adam Lambert's debut. . if not well feast your eyes.

talk about campy! according to Adam the cover is intentionally campy, outrageous and flamboyant.

his album is pretty much the same ! haha.

It took me a while to really get into his CD, the main reason being it wasn't quite the sound I wanted from him....his best performances in my eyes on Idol were his hard rock inspirations 'Whole Lotta Love' , 'Cryin' , 'I Cant Get No Satisfaction' and 'Born To Be Wild' .. though that one featured a little bit more of a techno spin, which is what I should have expected from his debut.

'For Your Entertainment' is what the album is titled, as well as being the title for the lead single. the album opens with a killer song 'Music Again' written by the former front-man for The Darkness, yes it sounds like 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love' but that's what I love!! that song is killer, and so is 'Music Again'.

moving onto the single 'for your entertainment' a song that has for sure grown on me over the past couple of months. . . initially I was really disappointed by it. But now I can appreciate it for what it is, pure pop.

The album then gives us a song written by Pink titled 'Whatya want from me' which is slated to be his second single. Its a good song, but sounds more appropriate as a Pink song in my opinion.

'Strut' co-written by Kara DioGuardi and Adam Lambert...is not too great, and is not very memorable. 'Soaked' however, a song penned by MUSE, is a standout. Opening with a massive chorus of instrumentation, and a lush production, you know this song will be a winner and will be a great addition to any concert tour Adam Lambert goes on!.

There are however, some needless songs, written by Linda Perry 'A Loaded Smile' drags ... and takes forever to get to the best part of the song, the vocal synthesizer that was made famous in the 70s and 80s is back ladies and gentlemen !

'Fever' a track that sounds like a lady gaga reject...is just that! a tune written by GaGa herself, adds a little bit of the camp we come to expect from the album cover, its a fun song, that starts off rather well, but doesn't really go anywhere for me.

'Aftermath' co-written by Ferras, another one of my favorite male artists , adds that 'inspirational' ballad to the CD. with a soaring hook, and some nice lyrics, the song is a highlight on the album.

closing with the incredibly boring 'Broken Open' was a mistake, and the song should have been left on the cutting room floor. 'Master Plan' an i Tunes bonus is actually much better, and delivers a powerful message to listeners, and should have been included on the hard copy of the album in my opinion.

over all its a pretty solid effort from the Idol Runner Up.

Adam Lambert's "For Your Entertainment" was also released today! go get your copy, if for no other reason than to have that outrageous album cover in your collection.

PS. check out Adam Lambert's ridiculous performance of 'For Your Entertainment' the lead single, at last nights American Music Awards below:

hope y'all enjoyed the blog !! i enjoyed writing it!!

have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!! and remember, eat till you explode, that's what the Holiday is for! haha jk jk

It's a Sad Day

Voters in Maine last night voted to reject Same Sex Marriage. This entry alone is hard for me to write.

Im struggling to find the words to describe how i am feeling right now at this moment.... sort of rejected , I feel unwanted , I feel like I don't even exist. At least not to my fellow citizens of this great Country, yes i still feel like this Country is great for many reasons and I will ALWAYS love America, today however i am ashamed to admit i am American.

Do the people who vote down a bill like this ever take for just one second a step back and think about what if they were voting against themselves ? no they dont, what they do however do is vote FOR themselves, and AGAINST a fellow American... and for what reason?

THE REASON IS HATE.

they will try and justify it in more ways than I care to count, religion, being the main focus. Religion last night drove people to vote against their sons and daughters, nephews, nieces, sisters , brothers , mom's and dad's even grand parents.

every single person who voted on that bill last night has come across a homosexual in their life, and a majority of them clearly couldn't care less to even realize it. because they have no heart. they have no compassion. they have no courage.

im sitting here wanting to continue, but honestly I feel like i've given too much of my energy already today to being upset and heartbroken over this.

THIS IS MY LIFE PEOPLE. is my LOVE any different than yours? no it IS NOT. if anything, we have more in common than they will ever know, we all get hurt, we all feel joy, we cheat, we remain faithful, we have children and raise them to be loving individuals, we PAY our taxes, dammit we should have EQUAL RIGHTS.

and dont give me this civil union bull shit, people who believe that is equal are BRAIN DEAD it is not equal it is FAR from it. so do not come to me with that argument because you will lose.

as a matter of fact, if you read this and you disagree with me, peace out, I have NO interest in knowing you. I am not kidding, I am willing to lose a close friend or 2 over this, I sure hope I don't have to , and i don't think i will need to..but the fact that I am willing to proves that this is far too important of an issue to just ignore.

Album Review : "Play On"

I was fortunate enough to find an advance copy of the new Carrie Underwood album titled "Play On". This disc marks the American Idol winner's 3rd studio album, and possibly her most versatile.

The album starts with the launch single 'Cowboy Casanova' , a song that grew on me, and one that I definitely enjoy more while she sings it live, did anyone see her on David Letterman last night? OK I'm gay but DAMN I LOVE her legs ! ! , I wish mine looked that good! anywhoodles I'm off track now, after the opening track, one we're all familiar with by now I'm sure, she moves onto a fun mixed-tempo track titled 'Quitter', the song is about her always quitting on her men, which she admits have pretty much always been losers, up until this man shes fallen in love with now. 'when I believe, that nothing lasts forever, you stay with me keeping us together, and make me feel like I never ever wanna give you up, till now I've always been a quitter' she sings on the sudden slow tempo change portion of the song, which happens to be my favorite part.

she then moves onto the beautiful 'Mamas Song' , a track I have discussed at length on here in the past. so moving onto track 4, we have 'Change' a song while very good, sounds a little too poppy for me, it almost seems like a song that could have come from her American Idol days...maybe as the victory single at the end of the season or something, anyways the song features Underwood's often featured strong vocals, with some soaring notes, its definitely not a song to skip, at first....in a month or so however, I will probably be over it.

track 5 is a fun number titled 'Undo It' that is way catchy, and in the vein of some of her more up-tempo hits, but isn't quite as good. track 6 is probably my favorite track on the album and its titled 'Someday When I Stop Loving You' its a very classic sounding country slow ballad, but its the vocals that really bring this song to a totally different level.

first of all , the production is brilliant, its a perfect mix of voice and instrumentation, and the instruments only add to the emotion and sound of the song in such a beautiful way, that the song becomes instantly lovable on a personal level.

everyone of us has gone through a tough relationship or 4 in our lives, its part of the growing process and its really what makes our future relationships healthier, and more beneficial to both partner, and this song really paints the emotions for us. featuring some truly special harmonies from Carrie and her back-up singers, 'When I Stop Loving You' should be and probably will be a single for Underwood.

track 7 brings back the up-tempo selections , with a track called 'Songs Like This' and I LOVE this song!! its way catchy, and I LOVE to sing along to this one!! I think this will be a single, and should be. its irresistible !! the from the opening Banjo to the killer chorus, this is not a song to be missed.

track 8 is 'Temporary Home' and I have also spoken on this song before in the past, so moving onto tracks 9-13.

Nine is titled 'This Time' and though it probably wont make it as a single, its not a bad filler song , and its one I quite enjoy. it features a fun rhythm , with some pretty nice vocals yet again from Carrie Underwood. 'life is short , love is sweet, ain't no time like this time baby' she sings at the end of the chorus, and the lyrics really speak to the feel of the song. its fun, bright and up-tempo , and its one I'm going to be coming back to time and time again !

track 10 is SO close in terms of quality as number 6 that its almost a disappointment, but when you listen through the song as a whole, you really cant help but love it! its titled 'Look at Me' , and its a beautiful love ballad, its almost the answer to track number 6 'Someday When I Stop Loving You', where that song was about losing a lover and finding it difficult to be over the relationship, 'Look at Me' is lighter in subject matter, portraying a relationship full of love and affection.

track 11, 'Unapologize' starts off promising , then when it hits the chorus sort of takes a nose dive for me. come to think of it , the versus are not very appealing either, the song features TOO much of Carrie's big voice, it feels like it reaches the climax at the first chorus!, to those who love big long loud belting songs, this one is probably for you. for the rest of us who don't wish to get a headache while listening to head phones, i suggest you skip this one. I know I do.

12 is a beautiful touching duet ballad that Carrie Underwood sings with the singer from the group 'Sons of Sylvia' and I actually like it a lot. I'm not too surprised to find her adding a duet to this album, it is her first duet to be featured on a Studio Album from Carrie and its a refreshing addition to her repertoire, and it has some killer vocals at the end that any one would love to sing along to !

the closing track , number 13, titled 'Play On' is obviously the title track for the album. It's an interesting choice to title the album after, the message to the song is up-beat and a happy one, but the song just isn't too strong in my opinion. the song is about persevering through tough times, and it really is an appropriate message for today's tough times, that's my guess as to why they titled this album after this song. its catchy, and has a fun to sing a long with chorus, but it doesn't stick with me the way some of the other tracks do.

well that's my album review for the new Carrie Underwood album 'Play On' , if you made it this far and actually read the whole post, then you'll be happy to know the record hit store shelves today ! so run out and grab a copy! I don't think you'll be disappointed !! I sure wasn't !!

Halloween is SO close!!

i CANNOT believe this month is almost over, which brings us to the best holiday (in my opinion at least), the magical night of HALLOWEEN.

how amazing is this holiday i mean for real, one night a year most of us get to be something we'd never dream of being, and its OK !!. i love love love this holiday, and this time of the year just in general! its beautiful, well not lately, but usually, the air is crisp, the wind is chilly , and there's candy candy candy!

whats everyone going to be for Halloween this year?! my outfit is top secret... like most years, i mean i take this shit very seriously, last year i was Hillary Clinton and it was a HUGE hit, so i naturally had to come up with something this year to out do myself from last year... and i think i may have found just the right outfit, now i just need to start planning how I'm going to out do myself for next year! yeah that's right.. i start costume planning on November 1st. hahaha.

another reason i love this time of year? NON-STOP scary movies!! my DVR is full right now of movies I've been taping off of AMC and other misc. movie channels! i watched an awesome old school Dracula the other night starring Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon) and Donald Pleasence (the Halloween movie franchise). it was so old school and just amazing i loved it. Dracula is one of my favorite fables, he never disappoints no matter what the incarnation. did i mention my obsession with vampires before this whole twilight craze? yeah i was ahead of the times with that one. go figure.

at any rate i still have a few pieces left to purchase to really send my outfit over the edge. i cant give anything away... all i will say is like last year, i will be another famous female, could be older, could be younger...she could even be dead! you'll have to wait and see on Saturday, there is a very small hand full of people who know, and i have trusted them with my secret. its going to be pretty funny, i hope.

well I'm off for now, this was just a little rant about my fav. holiday, my next blog will be about the new MUSE CD 'the resistance' which is brilliant.

its a good time to love music

i mean am i right?! the music coming out this year has been pretty great. so many fun new artists that are for the most part original and true to themselves. i love it, and this past month has been a prime example of why i love this year for music!.

at any rate I'm going to talk again about two artists i brought up in the last post I'm sorry, but I've come across the next new song from Carrie Underwood's new album 'play on' due out November 3rd. and i also found two new songs from lady gaga's up coming re-release of her debut 'the fame' , titled 'the fame monster' haha.. i don't know whats up with the monster added to the title, but whatever it for some reason fits Gaga.

then I'm going to talk about some music from Glee , and the new Cartel album 'Cycles' which came out yesterday ! so everyone should hop over to target, or best buy, or wherever you buy your music from !<3 class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">idk anyways, the song took a while to get into, but now I'm singing it even when I'm laying in bed haha its that good!. well i don't know how many people will really enjoy it as much as that, but I'm willing to bet money there is quite a few of us out there!

musically the song is pretty awesome, with some nice layering , to give the techno beats an extra special somethin. the song sounds well produced and it is well sung, with a great hook , what can i say lady gaga knows how to write a good song, she sings them pretty good, and really seems to enjoy what she does.

the next song i found from her is called 'Alejandro' , and if it seemed like i liked 'bad romance' a lot, then you haven't heard nothing.

i loveeeeeeee this song. i don't know what it is about it! , the over all feel of the song is pretty sexy, she sings about her love being as hot as Mexico (REJOICE!) haha. and this song is hot. its also got a sick hook that is so catchy.

i wouldn't be surprised if its released to, I'm willing to bet I'm in the minority of people who like this song more than 'bad romance' but i do, the music is awesome and uses layering the its best potential. the production is crazy good. love it

next up i wanna talk about a few of the songs from glee , if for no other reason than to talk about how much i miss being in show choir!!

I'll admit show choir has sort of slipped my mind the past year, and hadn't been coming to mind at all really. anyways glee came along and BAM I'm right back into it!, to be fair, the show for me is just OK. i best parts to me aren't even the musical parts, i feel they stand on their own better alone with out the over the top productions of musical performances for the show.

the best parts to me are easily sue ( the incredible Jane lynch ) i know i wouldn't watch the show if she wasn't on it, i just find the rest of the plot lines to be sort of cheesy, and not very believable. its almost like they want them to play second fiddle to the musical portions, and i think that's a mistake.

anywhoodles the songs really make me miss show choir, because i can see so many different choirs doing them. 'don't stop believing' and 'somebody to love' are already massive show choir songs, so I'm guessing the producers did a lot of research in choosing those songs, where as 'mercy' and 'rehab' both sound fresh and potential show choir hits, I'm sure plenty have done them already.

my main issue with the show choir portion of the show is its pretty unrealistic to how it really is. but to the average viewer who hasn't experienced show choir before, I'm sure its just fine, which is the majority of America, the flip side of that point is a positive of course, its opening show choir up to many different people who have never seen something like that before which i think is awesome. i hope there are new show choirs being added to schools across the country, i can honestly say show choir was one of the best parts of my high school life and i miss it like crazy !

next up i wanna chat about the new album from Cartel titled 'Cycles'

the set opens with a killer track titled 'let go' its pretty great!. it sounds like the cartel we are used to, where as the rest of the CD takes a slightly different approach to their typical catchy pop punk sound.

one of my favorite tracks is 'faster ride' , its got a fun beat, with a deeper message than the beat and sound of the song would imply. 'you just wanna take a faster ride, lower lows higher highs..' the hook starts off. but that's something we're used to hearing from cartel, darker themes, told through catchy music, its like emo music that's not emo?

they have of course the traditional ballads , and even a shout out song to their home roots titled ' deep south '. all of which are pretty good on their own, but my problem with this album is that it doesn't seem as cohesive as some of their other sets, namely their debut album 'chroma' which is still one of my favorite Cd's. i felt their self titled sophomore album didn't meet that high standard, but this set here their 3rd major label release is pretty solid , and a better entry to their discography than their second album.

finally i wanna rant about another new song from Carrie Underwood's new album , the song is called 'temporary home' and its pretty incredible!

the song tells a story through the beautiful lyrics and vocals of Carrie Underwood, this woman is pretty special!

the story begins telling the story of a 6 year old foster child, she sings about being used to being alone, another new mom and dad , etc. this subject matter alone would be fitting enough for an entire song, but she continues on in the next verse singing about a middle aged woman going through a half way home, shes looking for a job , a way for an out because a half way house will never be a home. pretty real subject matter. shes sings to her baby someday we'll find our place here in this world, because this is our temporary home, a stop on where we're going, I'm not afraid because i know this is our temporary home.

the song ends with a dying old man in a hospital bed, room filled with people who love him. ending with some pretty touching lines , sung beautifully by Carrie Underwood.

the song brought tears to my moms eyes earlier, its pretty powerful, all thanks to the vocal delivery of Carrie Underwood... what a talent

well that's all for now! i hope you enjoyed my rants

i guess its been a while

wow its been a while since i wrote a substantial blog entry!! i apologize !

its been a good couple of months for me when it comes to music, I'm constantly coming into contact with new and amazing music and i am just LOVING it!! i cannot ever express fully how i feel about music and how much it means to me

the last time i really talked about music was when i talked about the new paramore and mariah carey albums!!. well i have gotten a lot of music since i wanna rant about some of it !!

first off the song I'm listening to right now! its another new track from Carrie Underwood's upcoming album titled 'Play On' and the song is titled "Mama's Song" and it is just beautiful! her voice is soft and delicate in all of the right places, really adding another level of emotion to the song, making it fully believable and completely authentic.

the song is of course about the unconditional love a mother has for her child, told through a love story between her daughter and her new man. its also about life lessons passed on, and its just a gorgeous song! i cant recommend it enough.

the next artist i wanna talk about is Shakira, and her new English album ' She Wolf '

I'm not sure if the album has a set in stone release date here yet in America, but its already been released in parts of Latin America and Europe. this album is just awesome! its so fun, and you certainly can shake your ass to EVERY song in some way or another!

shakira is kinda pulling a beyonce-Britney move here, but what sets shakira apart is her use of other cultures instruments and beats! its so much fun, its like going on a trip around the world theres so much to choose from.

of course the lead single 'she wolf' is insane and i just love it! , what a fun song i wish i would have thought of it! the next single is set to be 'did it again' which she just performed on the results night for DWTS.

love this album. check it out

next up i wanna rant about this collection of lady gaga songs i found called 'disco heaven' and it is just that, a slice of pure pop heaven. from some extensive investigating via google (how else would you do it ?) i have come to find no info on this album other than the songs seem to be a collection of recording songs for 'the fame' that were left on the cutting room floor.

OK can i please just say these songs (theres 16 of them plus 3 bonus tracks of remixes for a total of 19 songs!!) could easily be a second album for the lady.

its crazy to think these insanely catchy tracks where left to be mashed together by some blogger online into a extra-cuts type of album to only be found online. there really is some true gems in h ere, and it really gets me excited for another gaga album to be officially released as her sophomore effort, because she really seems to have no shortage of fresh fun ideas for pop music.

just a quick side comment on a new song by leighton meester, does anyone else think she sounds like shes having sex on the joint? the track is called 'somebody to love' and its a duet with robin thicke. i think that's his name its a pretty good song

next up i wanna talk about the new Dead by Sunrise album titled "Out of Ashes" and it is a good solid rock album from linkin park front-man chester bennington.

it has some really interesting samples mixed into the music and its pretty rockin, it made me miss going to rock concerts back in the day, and it really made me miss linkin park.. i want them to make a new album ASAP

chester has one of those voices that's great for recording , plain and simple. and he doesn't disappoint on this album as the front man for this new band.

on my next blog I'm going to chat about some of the music from Glee and how it makes me miss my old show choir days from North. and i will be talking about the new Cartel Album 'Cycles'

till we meet again bloggers

Turn it Off (lyrics by paramore)

Lyrics to Turn It Off :
i scraped my knees while i was praying
and found a demon in my safest haven
seems like its getting harder to believe in anything
and just to get lost in all my selfish thoughts

i wanna know what it’d be like
to find perfection in my pride
to see nothing in the light but turn it off in all my spite, in all my spite i’ll turn it off

and the worst part is before it gets any better we’re headed for a cliff
and in the freefall i will realize i'm better off when I hit the bottom

tragedy it seems unending
im watching everyone i looked up to break and bending
we’re taking short cuts and false illusions just to cut out the hero

well i can see behind the curtain
the wheels are creaking, turning
its all wrong the way we’re working
towards a goal thats nonexistent, it’s nonexistent but we just keep believing

and the worst part is before it gets any better we’re headed for a cliff
and in the freefall i will realize i'm better off when I hit the bottom

i wanna know what it’d be like
to find perfection in my pride
to see nothing in the light but turn it off in all my spite, in all my spite i’ll turn it off
just turn it off again
again, again, again.

and the worst part is before it gets any better we’re headed for a cliff
and in the freefall i will realize i'm better off when I hit the bottom
and the worst part is before it gets any better we’re headed for a cliff
and in the freefall i will realize i'm better off when I hit the bottom

god i love that song, the lyrics really hit home.

Desperate Brothers and Sisters

hey everyone!!! so who LOVED Desperate Housewives and Brothers&Sisters on sunday night!?!? boy let me tell you , the new seasons are back in the swing of things!!

Desperate Housewives opened with a new family moving into town, bringing some mysteries about themselves that of course will probably be the main story arch for this season, its a sassy italian family with the head bitch being Drea DeMatteo herself!! ... so her , the husband and the son are ALL a little crazy i think!! ,and what the hell is up with that wicked scar drea is rockin on her back?! i have a feeling her son has something to do with that.

i obviously dont wanna give away any spoilers, like who mike got married to, or what crazyness happened at the ending of the episode, but damn i am looking forward to this season!!! it looks to be a pretty good one! season 6 all the way baby

and then following DH , Brothers&Sisters started up again, with of course plenty of Walker Family drama! haha but seriously...thats why everyone watches this show! its everyone's family rolled up into one , nicely edited family package!!

this season for B&S is going to be heartbreaking, i can already tell...especially since i was CRYING during the FIRST episode!! like wtf. haah i love that shit though. the walkers will forever live in my heart

Dexter also started up on sunday night, and for those of you not lucky enough to have cable, all i can say is, you're missing out!! that show is KILLER in ever sense of the word haha, for those of you living under a rock, dexter is a good serial killer.. haha i know right, you're thinking what the hell how can a serial killer be good, but lemme tell you ! dexter fights for the little guy, and trounces the evil doers of the world!! and now , he's doing it all as a daddy!

his baby Harrison btw is adorable.

and the addition of John Lithgow to this new season is just brilliance in my eyes that man can do no wrong. what a sick fuck!!, i wont give anything away...but the way he kills people is truly disturbing, and hilarious all at the same time.

<3

thats all for now, im going to make a delicious penne asparagus baby sweet pea recipe

heres the recipe for anyone who wants to try it out !! i highly recommend it !!

lots to talk about !!

hey everyone!! as i promised yesterday i would be doing a large blog tonight about all the new music I've come across the past few days!! so here we go!!

first up

Paramore "Brand New Eyes"

boy i tell you, after coming across this band years ago, i have not been disappointed with each of their Cd's that they have released, and their newest effort, "Brand New Eyes" is no exception !

the album starts off with a killer track 'Careful' and its all about taking chances, "you cant be too careful anymore when all that is waiting for you wont come any closer you've got to reach a little more" are the lines to insanely catchy hook on the opener, and it doesn't let up from there.

diving into the smash first single "ignorance" as track number 2 the album keeps up the hard punching drum beats and guitar riff's that we all love from Paramore, combining excellent song writing and killer vocals from Hayley Williams. but is this the Paramore we're all used to ? in some aspects, yes, but in others , we're treated to a whole new side of Paramore that we've never seen (nor heard) before.

the album is harder, darker, moodier, (not to be confused with emo) and its got all the fixings of another hit album for them.

there were rumors floating around the net a year or so ago that there was tension within the band, all of which is put right in front of our faces on this album, showing a personal side to the group that we haven't heard yet. we're used to the heartbreak songs from Hayley but for the most part the group has stayed hush hush on their inner dealings.

tracks 1-5 are stellar...6 has the potential to grow on me as well as track 7, 8 and 9 seem to be there strictly for filler material, as they both sound similar, and have sort of a recycled Paramore sound about them. then we move onto one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard Paramore record, the song is called 'Misguided Ghosts' and it is a stripped back effort, one that sounds like it was almost recorded in one take.

the acoustic guitar, combined with Hayley's delicate vocals on this track easily make it one of my favorites, only to be followed by probably my favorite cut from the whole album.

its a failed love anthem titled 'All I Wanted' and it features some of the most soaring vocals I've ever heard from miss Williams, who with this CD , really feels like she's coming into her own as the front-woman for this band, offering up some of her best vocal work to date.

"Brand New Eyes" out Sept. 29Th is not to be missed for any Paramore fan, and new ones alike.

Next up i want to talk about Mariah Carey's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", the singers 12Th studio album, and one I've talked about on here previously.

the album opens with the track "Betcha Gon' Know" and if the title doesn't make it clear, we gon' know Mariah by the time this CD is done. it should also serve as a hint that this album is a little more ghetto than Mariah has been in the past.

mixing slow jam beats with her sultry vocals, Mariah has created one hell of a record to jam out to. i found myself listening to this more than the Paramore CD yesterday believe it or not, i was certainly surprised by this!, Mariahs last effort "E=mc2" didn't do a whole lot for me. there were hits and a lot of misses on that album... as well as some cheap production work.

well all of that is out the window with 'memoirs..'

with the exception of 'obsessed' the albums lead single, the first 6 songs are pure R N'B hip hop gold, Mariah provides us with some sexy ass beats, all of which make me wanna grind on the first hot guy i see. tracks like 'betcha gon know' , 'H.A.T.E.U.' and 'Candy Bling' are all slow jams in their own rite, followed by track 5 ' Ribbon ' which I think could easily be a single and a huge one at that.

track 7 'Standing O' is a diss track on some level. . to who, i think we all know. its one of the weaker tracks on the album, but still very listenable , which should give you an idea of how good this CD is. track 8 'its a wrap' sounds like it came right out of a jazz bar , smoke filled, liquor flowing.

'up out my face' has a reggae , island, hip hop feeling to it, and i think it is hot hot hot, and could also be another single.

the last stretch of the CD seems to be dedicated to the love songs , tracks like 'more than just friends' , and 'the impossible' both speak to relationship turmoil and the brightest parts of relationships.

the last two tracks on the album (not including the reprises, inter and preludes) are titled 'Angels Cry' and ' I Want to Know What Love Is' ... which is the albums closer and the perfect fit for that position.

'Angels Cry' has the potential to be a massive hit for Mariah, and I hope she takes advantage of it !.

over all 'memoirs..' is leaps and BOUNDS better than last years effort "E=mc2" and i think should put Mariah slowly, but surely back on top. i sense possible Grammy nominations for her with this record. . . time will only tell if I'm right!

"Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" is due out Sept.29Th (same as Paramore) check it out !!

well i know i promised my thoughts on two other Cd's with this entry, but i have been so engrossed with these two albums that i haven't had time to properly form an opinion yet on Melanie Fiona and Mika...both of which ARE sounding good so far...they'll be the topic for my next blog! i swear!!

well i hope you enjoyed my take on these albums!! i have sure enjoyed listening to them, and i of course enjoy keeping up this blog, so let me know what your thoughts are!!

Emmy Round-up !

Hey everyone!!! who watched the 61st annual Emmy awards last night? no one? OK well you're not alone i am sure! ha ha but i did! lets be honest....i only really cared about 3 of the categories.. i was really watching for the Fashion!!! I'll briefly talk about the categories i was paying attention to, who won, and who i would have liked to see win!.

first up

Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series :
Winner : Kristin Chenoweth for "Pushing Daisies"

boy oh boy was i happy Kristin won!! have i ever watched PD ? no .. and that's probably why it was canceled...but this woman is just so phenomenal and talented, she can add Emmy winner to her already impressive Tony win lovelovelove , the other nominees where, Jane Krakowski for 30 Rock, Elizabeth Perkins for WEEDS, Amy Poehler for SNL, Kristen Wiig for SNL, and Vanessa Williams for Ugly Betty.

Outstanding Reality Competition:
Winner : The Amazing Race

hollla for the amazing race! what an AWESOME show!! and god how badly do i want to be on that!! ughh i DREAM about it sometimes.. lame i know ha ha but i was happy it won. other nominees were American Idol, Top Chef, Project Runway, and Dancing with the Stars.

Outstanding Host for a Reality Program:
Winner: Jeff Probst

i don't have much to say on this one other than i would have preferred Phil Keoghan for the Amazing race to win, other nominees were Ryan Seacrest for Idol, Padma Lakshmi for Top Chef, Heidi Klum for Project Runway, and Tom Bergeron for DWTS

Outstanding made for TV movie
Winner : Grey Gardens

no surprise here i was pulllling for this to win! its an AMAZING and TOUCHING movie with two of the best performances from its leading ladies I've seen all year.

Outstanding Comedy Series went to 30Rock, Outstanding Drama went to Mad Men.... no one is surprised.

Lead Actor in a Comedy Series went to Alec Baldwin. . whom i LOVE, and find VERY funny and deserving of this award, supporting actor how ever went to that guy from two and a half men.. a show i cannot stand, and wish it was off the air, i would have preferred if Jack MacBrayer from 30 rock win.

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series went to Toni Collette for the United States of Tara.. a show written by MN stripper Diablo Cody for the Showtime Network.

Lead Actress in a TV Movie went to Jessica Lange for GREY GARDENS. initially i was disappointed that Drew Barrymore didn't win, but listening to Jessica's acceptance speech i could tell the award was really for both of them...because they were both brilliant in that film, and you could tell they really formed a close bond while they filmed.

well ONTO to some FASHION

the real reason you're all here i am sure. hahah

first lets start off with my Favorite of the night, Christina Appelgate, wearing a stunning floor length blue gown.

next up lets see Kristin Chenoweth who didn't play safe at all and wore a mini! a bedazzled mini to top if off!! look at how stunning she looks

talk about daring!!

next up i want to show you Drew Barrymore who i thought looked just beautiful in her peach full length gown.

now lets go from demur to slutty with blake lively, the whore from Gossip Girl , who showed up to the show in a red floor length gown with a PLUNGING neck line, that showed off her umm...tits

yeah... skank

next up lets see some beautiful sandra oh, who gave me the BIG O with her dress for the evening, and beautiful peachish/goldish form fitting dress.

ugh sooo beautiful!!

next up lets see a pic of 4 woman, all wearing that apparent color of the evening, RED, i call this picture redredred

from left: Jennifer Morrison, Debra Messing, Sigourney Weaver (looking FABOOSH) and Carrie Preston.

now lets see a married couple of 21 years, Kevin Bacon and his wife , the closer, Kyra Sedgwick !

kevin looking dapper as always, and kyra wearing a beautiful baby pink gown.

now lets check out Olivia Wilde, wearing an amazing gown, that almost looks like a doily was painted onto her skin hehe

props to Vanessa Williams for adding a splash of different color

looking beautiful as ever!

now lets give it up for Mr.mentalist himself, Simon Baker, looking just delicious !

Phoebe Price.. i have no idea who this skank is , but look at how glamorous she looks. . . ha

now my favorite nipple eye stabber , padma lakshmi

i think she looks gorgeous, minus that red leech that stuck onto her hip

and finally...

i have no idea who that HOT MESS is, but WHAT THE HELL was she thinking? she had to have made that herself...because i don't know any designer that would put THAT out onto the red carpet !!! its just simply awful, and she gets the worst dressed of the night award HANDS DOWN

well that's my Emmy Recap! hope you made it through the whole thing, peace love and happiness

MisterTom

Divas Live 2009

WOW so there was a shit ton of TV on last night, but i would like to take the time to address my favorite show of the night..... Divas 2009 !

the ladies were out last night, and they were all bringing their A game..from what i can tell ha ha. lets just say i skipped over both Miley Cyrus performances, as well as Jordin Sparks song with Martina McBride. . . that shit just doesn't do it for me.

so the evening started off with miss Paula Abdul (the host for the ceremony) "performing" 3 of her greatest "hits" ...we all know why the quotation marks are where they are. ha ha

needless to say, it was a bunch of Paula running around on stage, having a bunch of hot men lift her up and twirl her around, and then she played with that weird microphone stand of hers. i swear she needs to bust that thing out once every performance, otherwise its just not a Paula song!.

moving onto the real divas, the show was split into two hours, the first being a solo showcase for the woman of the show, and the second hour dedicated to some duets with other , well established divas

Jennifer Hudson kicked off the show with a performance of her debut album single 'Spotlight' ... it was DECENT, and j-hud can sing, but she has a ways to go in terms of learning how to control her voice, she was kinda goin all over the place towards the end.

her second song , was " All in Love is Fair " a duet with the great , and i mean GREAT, Stevie Wonder...that man is a legend, and he was the only male performer of the night! how man-diva of him!!. the song was STUNNING ,and Jennifer Hudson absolutely KILLLLLLLLED it at the end, so much so that i am going to post a video of the performance, right here :

watch that and tell me that bitch cant sing, who won her year of idol... oh that's right, fantasia...where she at now a days ?

moving onto the next diva of the night, miss Kelly Clarkson. she performed a beautiful rendition of her single 'Already Gone' and it was stunning. her voice sounded amazing, and it only made me wish even more that she hadn't canceled her concert at the state fair here last month... i am still angry about that, but i cant fault her performance here, because it was beautiful check out the clip below :

she then got her lesbian on with Melissa Etheridge , performing a duet of her song 'Bring me some Water' , it was like watching two lesbian's in heat, and this is certainly not helping alllllll of those rumors circulating around town that Kelly Clarkson is a lesbian, maybe they just performed together to throw it back in our faces and to prove how silly the rumor is ....or is it? at any rate, the song was killer and they both sounded pretty stellar on it, I'd post the performance, but it wasn't anything I'd watch over and over. so moving on.

the next diva of the night was the lovely miss Jordin Sparks. she sang a decent version of her latest single ' SOS let the music play '. as far as her two performances go , the later was a performance with Martina McBride who sounded horrible on their duet of 'Broken Wings' , this one was the better performance, though i cant really say much about either...they were both pretty lackluster. but here it is for your viewing pleasure anyways!

like i said, nothing too special about it...just a fun catchy song, but i find that Jordin sparks is almost always a half step under key... and im getting annoyed by it, don't sing on your records , in a key that you cant perform in live.

next lets talk about Adele. wow wow wow... the first and only person that i will be posting both performances from on here, can i please just say i knew this girl was something special over a year ago when i first came across her? then having seen her perform live in Jan. at the Fitzgerald Theatre. combined with an unstoppable album full of themes on heartbreak and remorse... this VERY talented 20 year old Brit really proved why she was there last night.

she started off with her single 'hometown glory' which is a haunting ballad, full of strong and powerful lyrics. check it out :

if that didn't prove to you that she has a KILLER lower register AND HIGH register than her second performance, with the VERY talented India.Arie should prove to you that this girl can hold her own. check it out :

just a little side note, who else was PUMPED to see India.Arie ?! i mean for real..that woman has some of the best lyrics to ever be written in my honest opinion, and talk about a sultry, soulful voice...damn they sounded AMAZING together!! THEY should tour together.

finally i am going to talk about Leona Lewis....sigh, i had such hopes for her, her new single is still not doing really anything for me... its called 'Happy' and it was the first song she sang during the night, but it was just kind of a hot mess...she has no stage presence. and it was her second performance of the night, with the INCREDIBLE Cyndi Lauper that i think might have stolen the show, thanks to miss Lauper..... Cyndi should have been one of the Divas instead of Leona, and you'll see why when you watch this clip of them doing a duet to Cyndi's classic "True Colors"

yeah, she schooled Leona, mayjah

one last little side note , WHAT THE HELL is that ANNOYING vibrato Leona Lewis does? talk about forcing a sound out that you clearly weren't naturally made to create.

but at any rate, that's my rant on the Divas Live 2009 show! hope you enjoyed the blog and the videos, remember feedback is always welcomed! <3

MisterTom

ps i didn't talk about or show any miley cyrus performances, because i hate her, and she is not a diva, she is a slut

I'm superrr excited for some more P&R. . . Amy p. is so damn funny, and some of the previews I've been seeing for the new season look so funny.

who doesn't love the office? i mean seriously, that show is brilliant, and after last years ending , Ive been itching for more and more!

OK and seriously..when i heard DIVAS was coming back to vh1 i peed a little in my panties, OK i didn't, but i instantly marked it on my calendar ! ..someday i will be on that shit.

I'm excited to see what this 'community' show is going to be like. the previews look promising!, and of course the rest is just my usual Thursday trash, Kim gets drunk or somethin tonight on TRHOA , and Heidi is probably going to be uber bitch supreme again on project runway, like usual.

ohemgee look at how fat Eva longoria looks on PR tonight! ha ha have u seen the previews? musta been when she was all fat for DH. . . which starts later this month, along with brothers and sisters !!!! SO EXCITED, did i mention they start the same night as Dexter season 4?! im wet

in some music related news the new JoJo song is bangin, not in the i want to dance to this kinda way, but in the damn she sounds awesome on this track and its catchy as hell.

the song is called 'forever in my life' and its an up-tempo ballad. its pretty fab. her voice sounds excellent, and i think shes really coming into her own finally, her first two Cd's where pretty decent, and I've always been impressed with her voice, especially with her being so young, but shes on fire now, shes really gaining great control of her voice!. check out the song below!

well that's all for now, peace love and drugs

MisterTom.

ps. i download 'tardy for the party' today... and its now on my ipod... I'm ashamed.

lets talk Mariah

so who doesn't love Mariah? if you don't just stop reading, because I'm going to continue to talk about just how much i LOVE HER.

i think my first realization that i loved this bitch, came around the time she was releasing her Rainbow Album circa 1999. . . which would make me 11 , which would mean that i have been obsessed with this DIVA for 10 years.

if you know me, you probably know that i can sing along to almost any Mariah song like i wrote that shit myself, but seriously... what gay cant?!

Mariah is the epitome of divaliciousness that bitch knows exactly what she wants, always demands it, and gets pissed if she doesn't get it, my hero.

you're probably asking yourself, why the hell is he dedicating a whole blog to just Mariah, well lets see, she has the most number 1 singles for a solo artist, second only to the Beatles, that's saying a lot, considering she's a woman, which lets be honest , isn't always a plus in the music business.

she has like a ridiculous vocal range, I'm pretty sure she can hit notes on Dolphins can hear,,, haha kidding of course, that's just a rumor from what i can gather, but damn, i wouldn't be surprised if she could while she was in her prime! , meaning of course that her voice has dwindled in the past years, but does that matter? no.

she has sold over 60 million albums in the US alone, and over 200 million records world-wide. which ranks her as the number one selling female artist in the united states, and 3rd over all in the world. not too shabby for a woman who's almost 40 !

which brings me to my real reason for writing this blog, she is set to release her 12Th full length studio album in less than 2 weeks (Sept. 29Th), and shes almost 40!! that's pretty crazy, considering the break down she faced in 2001 after Glitter...which BTW, was a pretty shitty movie, but i loved it, and i loved the album even more, and i find it to be one of her most diverse, and interesting pieces of work , ever. Needless to say, that album doesn't get the credit it deserves, only because it was paired with a less than average movie.

she doesn't just stick to music though, as I've already mentioned she's dabbled in some acting ventures, starring alongside people like Padma Lakshmi (Host of Bravo's Emmy award winning series Top Chef) and academy award winning actress Mira Sorvino or as a i like to call her, Romy White. . . I'm the Mary you re the Rhoda.

and now she has a VERY highly anticipated movie coming out, titled Precious, and it looks quite stunning, check out the preview below

if you missed mariah in the preview, don't worry, i did too the first time i saw it, here's a snap shot of her from the movie :

i know that's some crazy shit, doesn't look like her one bit!!, loves it !i knew she had SOME sort of acting talent.. haha. .. some

well to wrap things up her new album is titled "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" and its said to be one of her more personal albums, plus having written and produced most of the tracks herself, i have a feeling it will be!. not to mention check out the hot album cover... you cant go wrong lookin like that !

the lead single "Obsessed" was released a few months back, when the album had an original release date of august 15Th but it was pushed back, which led her to release another single , a remake of foreigners classic "I Want To Know What Love Is" and its amazing, i do believe I've even talked about it a little on this page!

so that's that, my blog for Mariah, oh how i love thee

MisterTom

so i just have to blog right now!

OHEMGEE who's excited about BB?!

SPOILER ALERT

JORDAN WON WOOOOOOOOO thats right, my big busted, beautiful blonde bombshell pulled through and EARNED her victory tonight HOLLLLLLA im lovin BB right now, finally for the first time in years someone i wanted to win, actually did win !! <333

so it was between her and kevin to win the final HOH of the season, after tying 3 to 3 in the question round, they had to do a tie breaker, which always involves a number... which had me NERVOUS as HELL for jordan... shes blonde remember?

well the question was "including tie breakers how many votes to evict have been cast this entire season' ... the answer was 51 votes, Kevin guessed 80 and jordin fricken guessed 50 !!!!! she was 1 fricken number away from being DEAD ON!! how insane is that, you could tell she pulled the number right out of her gorgeous ass.

so she chose to evict kevin , sending him to the jury, which was now six people, and america had the 7th vote, big surprise america voted for JORDAN to win! , she beat Natalie 5-2 and i couldnt be happier!! LOVES ITTT

onto some other TV news

today on Twitter , a friend of mine, mister Michael Dodes posted the most beautiful song i have ever heard, i will now post it for you, i feel it doesnt need an explanation as to why its just so beautiful

P.s This is TV news because Kim is a member of The Real Housewives of Atlanta

laying in bed

Typing this shit out on mah phone

First.. RIP Patrick Swayze. How terribly sad, but what a strong fight he made. My thoughts go out to his wife of more than 30 years, something you don't hear of too much anymore in Hollywood.

But onto some lighter news, its the FINALE night of BigBrother !! Who's excited?!? Mmmmmm shit I am! I have no clue who could win...especially since all 3 are going to finale night, its just crazy how they're doing it this year!!

I'm personally rooting for Jordan, though I've really come to like Kevin these past few weeks...I think he's hilarious and I think he's playing probably the best game! He's made almost zero enemies in the house, and knows how to make himself seem like less of a threat so easily. So props to him...he really should win based on the whole season.

But what can I say, I'm a sucker for dumb blondes with big boobies.

You know who I'm not a sucker for anymore? Dumb blondes with small boobies, AKA the brain dead piece of meat that is Rachel Zoe that's like totally bananas! Like gag me with a spoon PLEASE

That bitch is so annoying. And everytime her somewhat cute assitant frowns or squints his eyes, the wrinkles in his forhead instantley go into klingon mode. Sadness

Anywhoodles sorry for that entirely unneeded side rant, she really isn't even worth mentioning, so who watched the premier of 'the jay leno show' ? I did, and loved it! But I love me some Jay Leno, I have to say I'm prettttty disappointed with how conan has been doing as the new host of the tonight show... I actually like jimmy fallons show better now!! That's unthinkable.

But jay did awesome! I love his new set, he even has anew wave to his hair...he seems like a new guy after some much needed rest. Even though we all know jay is one of the hardest workin men in the biz

So who's new obsession is 'hoaders' ?! What a crazy ass show, those people I swear to god are insane. Its NUTS watching that show.... I can't take my eyes off of the continued train wrecks that are the hoaders.

For those of you who don't know, hoarders are people who collect and save just random stuff...some of them have 15 table lamps just chillen , some have boxes from floor to ceiling, some have rotting food all over the places, some even have toilet paper full of their own shit piling up on their bathroom floors...and that's not even 1/16th of the shit they collect... like I said, its impossible to take your eyes off of them...its sort of heartbreaking.

Well anyways I'm going to get out of bed now bye bye

VMA's

can we please talk about the MTV VMA's for a hot minute.

ok enough russel brand please, he is not that funny, or good to look at even though i'd hit it. numerous times.

secondly, i loved madonna's speech, and LOVED the michael jackson dance tribue, and then janet came on stage, yes i may seem like a cold hearted bitch, but thats when that performance went down hill for me, and fast.

to be honest, i dont really think it was that appropriate for her, on a personal level, to be performing something like that so soon, but the fact that she did it makes me respect her.

but for real, girl didnt even sing live, and was on stage for 2 mins , tops.

anyways, i'll just leave that one alone for now.

moving onto the sheer fuckery that is kanye west. . . i think he just gave chris brown his meal ticket back to stardom.

SERIOUSLY WHAT WAS HE THINKING?!?! poor taylor swift, i mean i hate the bitch, but she doesnt even deserve that!. that was just so down right rude of kanye west, and i have to say, im even a little surprised, even coming from him. if i was taylor swift i would have probably cut a bitch on stage , you just dont do that to someone.

lets see ..what else do i wanna talk about, well besides the fact that the whole evening was now extremely awkward feeling thanks to mr.west, i have to say, there were some hottt performances, thanks LARGELY to the WOMAN ! im a guy, a gay guy, but i love my woman! especially strong, fierce, powerful, independent woman, they dont need the MAN HOLDIN THEM DOWN.

you know what im sayin?

ok so i hated taylor swift's performance , seriously that bitch cant sing.

lovedddd lady gaga's performance even though her outfits off stage were entirely too distracting.

pinks performance was HAWT. even though i would NEVER attempt something like that!! BITCH IS CRAZY. made for some great emotion from pink though !

Beyonce's was just awesome! what can i say about sasha fierce that kanye west didnt already say?! no for real... shes our generations tina turner, and im so happy i got to see her perform live in front of my very eyes in july!.

i fast forwarded through most of the show...stopping only to see who won the like...5 awards they gave out. haha i swear they should just turn the whole damn thing into a concert, thats the only reason people watch!

i loved jay-z and alicia keys performance ! i have never heard that song before tonight, but i loved it, and its giving me second thought at checking out jay-z's new album.

and to cap off an already ridiculous night, lil mama decided it was ok for her to just come up on stage and like idk stand there and give jay-z some gangsta looks like she belonged? well jay-z gave it right back to her when he SHUNNED her from the after song group hug. she just stormed off stage lookin all sorts of ghettttto

Happy Birthday Donna!!

so tonight was my friend Angela's mom's birthday partty!! no need to mention how old she is, shes forever beautiful, and she has overcome some major challenges , obstacles, trials & tribulations, what ever you want to call them and she has pulled through, as i sit here and write this, listening to Adele in my headphones, i feel compelled to write about her.

this woman is magical, shes truly a beautiful human being, through and through and i feel privileged to know her. I've never known her to be anything other than a loving mother to her three beautiful daughters, all of whom I'm proud to call friends, and one of whom (Angela) I'm proud to call one of my best friends (i took her to prom twice hehe) shes amazing and its all thanks to her mother Donna.

tonight we celebrated her birthday and I'm so happy i was there to share it with her!, she was an absolute riot, and i was cracking up the WHOLE
night!! <3

MisterTom

it's time to talk movies

hey everyone!! sorry I've been MIA for the past few days, but lets be honest, who even reads this ? I'm sure a total of 0 people noticed i was missing ha!, and besides i had to do some research for my next entry which i decided would be about some fabulous movies I've seen lately! ! I'm going to TRY and keep it short, since Ive been informed that my entries tend to run a little long, i was like bitch please the title of my damn blog is mistertom's RANTS..i rant duh..

anywhoodles the first movie I'm going to talk about is a HILARIOUS dark comedy by John Waters(pink flamingo, the original hairspray ) it is called Serial Mom here's the poster for the movie :

if that doesn't give you an idea of what sort of ridiculous movie this is, then you are clueless. the movie focuses on Kathleen Turner's character Beverly Sutphin , who is clearly losing her mind!, i don't want to give away too much about this movie, because the less you know about it going in, the more you will love it, just trust me that its an outrageous, over the top, hilarious comedy and remember don't wear white after labor day

p.s check out this HILARIOUS picture i found that's a play on the poster... so damn funny
if that doesn't make you laugh you have no soul.

Up next I'm going to talk about two different independent films that i found to be quite amazing and brilliant

first up I'm going to talk about a movie starring one of my favorite actresses around Tilda Swinton.

the movie is called "Julia" check out the movie poster below :

the movie is about an Alcoholic fluzie played to the extreme by Tilda Swinton (who in my opinion NEEDS to get nominated for this movie, for many reasons which I'll talk about in a hot minute).

again , without giving away too much, I'll let you know that she goes to AA meetings, not by choice, and meets a rather interesting lady while shes there, who approaches her with the idea of kid napping her childing from her father ( the child's grandfather ) because of the abuse he endures under his hand, but its pretty clear from the beginning that this woman is deranged and really should not have her child back, we as the audience understand this, but Julia is clouded by her lust for money and power, and of course her judgment is shrouded in a haze of booze filled nights , nights she often forgets the next morning, as she lay next to a man she apparently had sex with as well ( probably just to get a ride home if for nothing else).

the movie leads us down some intense and often VERY real scenarios, the screenplay for this movie is phenomenal and made me believe almost everything i was watching.

now why should Tilda receive an award nomination(s) for this? because A) she is a fearless actress who seems to know no limits and B) because this movie is ALREADY out on DVD!, it played in only 4 theatres because of the money crunch the production faced, and received almost no word of mouth from the audiences, even though it has been praised at numerous award and film festivals over the past few months, so i feel a nomination for Tilda would really bring the sort of attention to this film that it deserves.

the last film I'm going to talk about has a title i cant even pronounce, but one of my favorite Actors around right now , Phillip Seymour Hoffman, good lord can this man act.

check out the poster :

i watched this movie last night, and i still cant really say i understand it completely, there are a lot and i mean A LOT of hidden meanings in this movie, it is full of symbolism , and it is full of some of the best acting work I've seen come out of the cinema for quite some time. i wasn't sure how i was going to feel about this movie ( i even had it for almost a month from netflix, just sitting at my house ) i eventually returned it without watching it, only to find it on Starz on Demand last night.

the movie is just over 2 hours long, running 2 hrs and 3 mins, and i was up till 3 am watching it...i was SO SO tired by the end , because of the late time, but that's how interesting this movie is, you just cant take your eyes off of it !! .

the basic plot for the movie follows a man over from what i gathered is a 40 year span, following him through a rough marriage at the beginning, all the way to a very emotional ending..

this is another one of those movies i cant give away too much, because the less you know before you go into seeing it, the richer the experience you'll enjoy.

its sort of like the movie "Doubt" in the sense that this is a movie that everyone will come out of thinking something totally different, but that's what i LOVE about this movie, it makes you think , and god forbid we THINK ! ha ha.

it is certainly not a movie for everyone, but i say give it a shot, take from it what your mind allows you too , its a beautiful , powerful film..

OK so i went on another RANT ha ha! go figure right??
well I'm off for the day to enjoy what nice weather we have left here in MN

a little tv, a little music ! (actually a lotta music )

hey everyone! sorry my entry is a little later this evening, i took some time to nap earlier... which really isn't much different from every other day ... except day was just extra long because of the gloomy weather, i mean really who wants to be awake when its all cloudy out ? well not me so there ya go.

so lets talk about some television first tonight!! specifically the FALL TV season ! , its quickly coming upon us, and tonight is no exception !, we have multiple premiers tonight, but what are the ones I'm going to be paying attention to you ask ? well i shall tell.

first we have the 2 hour premier of America's Next Top Model ( ANTM ) on the CW starting at 7pm (here in MN). who's excited ?! and more importantly, who wants to be on top?!

well i have an early favorite for this show, and i don't even know what she looks like yet! ha ha you're probably saying to yourself...what the hell is he talking about, well there is a girl from MN on ANTM this year!!, so of course my ass is gonna be rooting for the home town girl, even though lets face it, if we ever want someone from MN to win that shit our only hope is me, myself and i. HOLLA

next we have the season premier of So You Think You Can Dance ( SYTYCD ) on the Fox network tonight!, now ... i understand their want to capitalize while the show is still big...but really? they just crowned the season 5 winner a little over 2 months ago !!, maybe the fact that i cant even remember the winners name has something to do with it....since season 4 the show has been on a steady decline in the talent IMO, and season 5 was the worst so far, maybe they're hoping they just had a bad bunch of people this year and they're hoping for a stronger group this time around?

either way, I'm not sure how i feel about this being back on the air sooo soon!, how shitty for the girl who just won...instead of having a year to have the title of Americas favorite dancer, she gets what 6 months before the winner is crowned again in Jan? which is BTW, just in time for American Idol to start back up ...clever Fox.

after SYTYCD on fox, we have the premier of Glee ... well technically this is the second episode....but the first was just a pilot.. so if any of you are wondering, you probably shouldn't expect a continuation of the original story, seeing as series seasons usually go a different route than the pilot episode.

now... i would LOVE to be totally obsessed with Glee and hanging onto every word that is sung from those kid's mouths, but i have to be honest, as a 3 year veteran of a show choir from my own high school, and being very involved in choir every single year from 4Th grade till graduation, i was a little disappointed by the pilot episode, and my anticipation for this new batch of shows could be a little higher.

will i give it a chance? of course.. but here's hoping its not going to be all about the stereotypes that so many choir students strive to disassociate themselves with in high school, and more about the music.

capping off my night of television will be the latest episode of Top Chef Las Vegas which i am just LOVING this year!, what fun contestants they have this time around, interesting personalities, and there is just the right amount of twists and turns to the usual recipe (pardon the pun) of the show to keep me entertained this year!, tonight's elimination challenge is to cook for an esteemed panel of French Chefs ...so my guy Mattin should do well considering he's from France and is classically trained in french cuisine

did i mention besides music movies and TV I'm also obsessed with cooking? i just might share from recipes on here with you guys some day that i enjoy myself!!.

onto some music ! i have two songs I'm going to be telling you about tonight, one came as a request from a friend of mine from Riverfalls Wisconsin, her name is Alex Gehin and shes a total doll, who loves her music just as much as i do !

now just a fair warning, she asked me to talk about the new Miley Cyrus song "Obsessed" and before i do, i should mention that I'm in no way a fan of Miley Cyrus, and never have been.

onto the song, it is actually a good song, its well written, has proper build and a pretty decent climax, everything you look for in a song , or a sexual partner, ha jkjk i had to throw that in.

my only complaint? i just wish it was sang by someone who can actually sing... ha ha the lack of vocal chops has always been the one thing holding me back from Miley Cyrus and her music, I'll be fair i actually find a majority of the songs she releases to be quite catchy, fun pop music, much the same with Taylor Swift, another awful singer, who can write catchy songs.

the song starts off very pretty, and Miley actually is singing better than I've really ever heard her sing, and that's not a lie, but then she quickly plunges head first into the hook...and that's when my ears started to bleed. shes wailing, not singing, and there is a big big difference.

so my final verdict on the song? i would have liked it leaps and bounds more if it had been sung and tweaked a little by someone with the vocal prowess of Lee Ann Womack or even Faith Hill. some country girls who can REALLY SANG.

onto my next little rant

who has heard of The Sugababes ? if no one answered yes, i don't fault you, they are in no way large here in the US , and have really only had success ( 10 years of it ) out in London. they are an electro-dance girl group, consisting of three members.

an interesting fact about this group though however is that they have a revolving door of members, being that the 3 that are currently making music under the name The Sugababes were not the original three members.

at any rate, this is my favorite three-some of ladies!, their music is FUN FUN FUN, and for the most part will never take itself TOO seriously, which is a great gift to have in the music business. their new song titled "About A Girl" was produced by hit maker RedOne who's worked with lady gaga on "just dance" and "poker face".

so of course you know the song will have a bumpin beat, with fun, easy to remember lyrics , and really interesting harmonies that only a girl group can recreate. the song had me jigglin in bed ( yes bed ) the very first time i heard it, and I've been in love ever since!.

the song has a Latin techno island kind of feel..but heavy on the dance beats, music The Sugababes are known for, two of my favorite songs from them are "I'm Never Going To Dance Again" and "My Love Is Pink"

i promise though "About a Girl" will have you singing and dancing along the very first time you hear it!!. props to The Sugababes .

next I'd like to talk about the next song that was released from the upcoming Paramore album "Brand New Eyes"

the song is titled "Brick by Boring Brick" and the song is anything but Boring!! this group has such an awesome way of using different tempo's, harmonies, stellar vocals and great drum beats in almost every song!!. this song is of course no different, and i am looking forward to their new album even more!!

what i love about this song is it comes hard from the beginning, letting us know the second she starts singing that Hayley Williams is quite the vocalist, and boy is she tiny!! this girl is one of the smallest woman I've ever seen ha ha, you know what I'm talking about if you've ever seen Paramore perform live. the power she has is pretty incredible.

finally tonight i would like to actually talk about a solo song i found by Hayley Williams from Paramore for the soundtrack to the upcoming movie Jennifer's Body starring Megan Fox as a sexy killer vampire high school student (From what i can gather from the preview)

the song is called "Teenagers" and dare i say that it almost sounds like a song Hayley could have written back in her teenage angst ? oh wait she's still a teenager! ha.

the song doesn't feel like a Paramore song one bit, which i love, i would have felt some what cheated if they would have slapped the Paramore name onto this song. the song is pretty short, and is guitar driven , with some fun layering of Hayley's vocals to make some pretty kick ass harmonies, it has a really fun build, and hand clap at the end that will have you clapping along, you can also hear the faint sound of perhaps 10-20 people screamin along to the hook at the end with Hayley, that must have been a fun recording session !! wish my ass coulda been there.

the song for me as a whole however, is just too short! its such a good song to be cut off before it even hits the 3 minute mark! i kind of have a hatred for songs that aren't even 3 minutes long, unless of course they're done right. you could argue that this song is just write, but to me its missing that somethin somethin that would make it a repeat listener.

at any rate, that's all for tonight ! damn this might be my first REAL long rant! ha ha
