Divas Live 2009

WOW so there was a shit ton of TV on last night, but i would like to take the time to address my favorite show of the night..... Divas 2009 !

the ladies were out last night, and they were all bringing their A game..from what i can tell ha ha. lets just say i skipped over both Miley Cyrus performances, as well as Jordin Sparks song with Martina McBride. . . that shit just doesn't do it for me.

so the evening started off with miss Paula Abdul (the host for the ceremony) "performing" 3 of her greatest "hits" ...we all know why the quotation marks are where they are. ha ha

needless to say, it was a bunch of Paula running around on stage, having a bunch of hot men lift her up and twirl her around, and then she played with that weird microphone stand of hers. i swear she needs to bust that thing out once every performance, otherwise its just not a Paula song!.

moving onto the real divas, the show was split into two hours, the first being a solo showcase for the woman of the show, and the second hour dedicated to some duets with other , well established divas

Jennifer Hudson kicked off the show with a performance of her debut album single 'Spotlight' ... it was DECENT, and j-hud can sing, but she has a ways to go in terms of learning how to control her voice, she was kinda goin all over the place towards the end.

her second song , was " All in Love is Fair " a duet with the great , and i mean GREAT, Stevie Wonder...that man is a legend, and he was the only male performer of the night! how man-diva of him!!. the song was STUNNING ,and Jennifer Hudson absolutely KILLLLLLLLED it at the end, so much so that i am going to post a video of the performance, right here :

watch that and tell me that bitch cant sing, who won her year of idol... oh that's right, fantasia...where she at now a days ?

moving onto the next diva of the night, miss Kelly Clarkson. she performed a beautiful rendition of her single 'Already Gone' and it was stunning. her voice sounded amazing, and it only made me wish even more that she hadn't canceled her concert at the state fair here last month... i am still angry about that, but i cant fault her performance here, because it was beautiful check out the clip below :

she then got her lesbian on with Melissa Etheridge , performing a duet of her song 'Bring me some Water' , it was like watching two lesbian's in heat, and this is certainly not helping alllllll of those rumors circulating around town that Kelly Clarkson is a lesbian, maybe they just performed together to throw it back in our faces and to prove how silly the rumor is ....or is it? at any rate, the song was killer and they both sounded pretty stellar on it, I'd post the performance, but it wasn't anything I'd watch over and over. so moving on.

the next diva of the night was the lovely miss Jordin Sparks. she sang a decent version of her latest single ' SOS let the music play '. as far as her two performances go , the later was a performance with Martina McBride who sounded horrible on their duet of 'Broken Wings' , this one was the better performance, though i cant really say much about either...they were both pretty lackluster. but here it is for your viewing pleasure anyways!

like i said, nothing too special about it...just a fun catchy song, but i find that Jordin sparks is almost always a half step under key... and im getting annoyed by it, don't sing on your records , in a key that you cant perform in live.

next lets talk about Adele. wow wow wow... the first and only person that i will be posting both performances from on here, can i please just say i knew this girl was something special over a year ago when i first came across her? then having seen her perform live in Jan. at the Fitzgerald Theatre. combined with an unstoppable album full of themes on heartbreak and remorse... this VERY talented 20 year old Brit really proved why she was there last night.

she started off with her single 'hometown glory' which is a haunting ballad, full of strong and powerful lyrics. check it out :

if that didn't prove to you that she has a KILLER lower register AND HIGH register than her second performance, with the VERY talented India.Arie should prove to you that this girl can hold her own. check it out :

just a little side note, who else was PUMPED to see India.Arie ?! i mean for real..that woman has some of the best lyrics to ever be written in my honest opinion, and talk about a sultry, soulful voice...damn they sounded AMAZING together!! THEY should tour together.

finally i am going to talk about Leona Lewis....sigh, i had such hopes for her, her new single is still not doing really anything for me... its called 'Happy' and it was the first song she sang during the night, but it was just kind of a hot mess...she has no stage presence. and it was her second performance of the night, with the INCREDIBLE Cyndi Lauper that i think might have stolen the show, thanks to miss Lauper..... Cyndi should have been one of the Divas instead of Leona, and you'll see why when you watch this clip of them doing a duet to Cyndi's classic "True Colors"

yeah, she schooled Leona, mayjah

one last little side note , WHAT THE HELL is that ANNOYING vibrato Leona Lewis does? talk about forcing a sound out that you clearly weren't naturally made to create.

but at any rate, that's my rant on the Divas Live 2009 show! hope you enjoyed the blog and the videos, remember feedback is always welcomed! <3

MisterTom

ps i didn't talk about or show any miley cyrus performances, because i hate her, and she is not a diva, she is a slut
